Sawyer Stevenson (she/her) is a mixed-blood Haudenosaunee woman and the Coordinator of Recreation Programs for the Town of New Tecumseth, where she works within a municipal setting to empower community through recreation, learning, and holistic well-being. With nearly a decade of experience in recreation and community wellness, Sawyer brings a strong background in program development, facilitation, public speaking, and relationship-building across diverse age groups and communities.
Prior to her work at the municipality, Sawyer supported Right To Play – Indigenous Programs, serving Indigenous communities at both an officer and management level. Her work focused on youth empowerment, community-led programming, and strengthening well-being through culturally responsive and land-based approaches.
Sawyer holds a diploma in Recreation and Leisure Services from Fanshawe College and is deeply passionate about advancing physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual well-being. While working within a western and corporate worldview, she intentionally grounds herself in Indigenous knowledge systems and ways of working both to support her own wellness and to create space, representation, and opportunity for Indigenous youth navigating similar systems.
